GDG Indore is dedicated to providing a harassment-free and inclusive event experience for everyone, regardless of gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, neurodiversity, physical appearance, body size, ethnicity, nationality, race, age, religion, caste, or other protected category.
This code applies to everyone at our events — attendees, speakers, sponsors, volunteers and organizers alike — and covers talks, workshops, hackathons, chat groups, social media, after-parties and hallway conversations.
Be excellent to each other
Treat everyone with respect. Participate while acknowledging that everybody deserves to be here, and each of us has the right to enjoy our experience without fear of harassment, discrimination or condescension, whether blatant or subtle.
A large part of our audience is people who are new to this — students, career changers, people at their first tech event ever. “That’s a basic question” is not a thing anyone should hear at a GDG Indore event.
Speak up
If you see something that concerns you, say something. If you believe someone is being harassed, or you notice a situation heading somewhere bad, no matter how minor, please tell an organizer. We would much rather hear about something small than find out afterwards that something large went unreported.
Harassment is not tolerated
Harassment includes, but is not limited to:
- Offensive comments related to any of the characteristics listed above
- Sexual images or language in public spaces
- Deliberate intimidation, stalking or following
- Harassing photography or recording, including of screens and slides
- Sustained disruption of talks or other events
- Inappropriate physical contact, or unwelcome sexual attention
- Advocating for, or encouraging, any of the above
Participants asked to stop any harassing behaviour are expected to comply immediately.
Practice “yes and”
Be aware of your impact and how intense interactions may affect people. Be direct, constructive and positive. Take responsibility for your impact and your mistakes — if someone says they have been harmed through your words or actions, listen carefully, apologise, and correct the behaviour going forward.
Consequences
If a participant engages in harassing behaviour, the organizers may take any action they deem appropriate, up to and including a warning, expulsion from the event with no refund, and a ban from future GDG Indore events. Sponsors, speakers and volunteers are subject to the same standard as attendees, and we will act on reports about them the same way.
Reporting
If you are being harassed, notice that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concern, please contact an organizer.
- In person: any organizer at the event. We’ll be wearing something that identifies us, and we will tell you who we are at the start of every event.

Organizers will help participants contact venue security or local law enforcement, provide escorts, or otherwise assist those experiencing harassment to feel safe for the duration of the event. We value your attendance.
Reports are handled discreetly. We will not share your identity with the person you are reporting without your agreement, except where we are legally required to.

This code is adapted from the official Google Developer Groups event code of conduct and anti-harassment policy, released by Google under Creative Commons Zero. Attendees at our events are also covered by the Google Developer Groups participation terms and the Google community guidelines.
Where our events are hosted at a partner venue, that venue’s own rules apply alongside this code.
